Mara Montessori Collective began 14 years ago with a simple vision—to create a place where children could grow into confident, compassionate, and capable individuals through authentic Montessori education. What started as a single school has grown into a connected community, united by a belief in purposeful learning, respect for each child’s unique journey, and a commitment to preparing students for life, not just school.

Why We're Different
From infancy through adolescence, Mara Montessori Collective offers education without compromise and without limits. We honor authentic Montessori principles while opening doors to modern opportunities for leadership, entrepreneurship, and real-world purpose.
Our students don’t just prepare for tests—they prepare for life in a community where every child is seen, valued, and challenged to grow into a capable, compassionate leader.
The result? Changemakers—young people who pair knowledge with empathy, confidence with humility, and vision with action.

Montessori is a scientifically proven, respectful approach to education that sees each child as capable, curious, and full of potential. Developed over 100 years ago by Dr. Maria Montessori and continually supported by modern research, it is recognized as one of the most effective ways for children to learn—not just for school, but for life.
In a carefully prepared environment, children learn by doing. From pouring water to mastering complex math, every material is designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and encourage independence. Mixed-age classrooms create a community where children learn with and from one another, building friendships, empathy, and social responsibility.
Montessori guides (teachers) observe closely and introduce lessons at just the right moment—allowing each child to progress at their own pace while developing strong academics, critical thinking, creativity, and leadership skills.
At the Mara Montessori Collective, we follow authentic Montessori principles from infancy through adolescence, pairing them with modern opportunities for entrepreneurship, service, and real-world purpose. Our goal is simple yet profound: to prepare children to thrive as capable, compassionate changemakers in a complex world.

Caring For Our Earth
At the Mara Montessori Collective, caring for the earth is woven into our mission. Both Laurel Mara Montessori and Sage Mara Montessori hold Evergreen Status as Michigan Green Schools—a recognition of our deep commitment to environmental stewardship. From recycling and energy conservation to hands-on nature education, our students learn that their choices matter and that they have the power to protect and nurture the world around them.
